General FAQs
GateComply is a digital platform that helps trucking companies stay compliant with registrations, permits, and tax reporting. From setting up your company to filing quarterly IFTA reports, everything is organized and managed in one place.
GateComply is built for owner-operators, small fleets, and larger logistics companies operating across the U.S. If you run commercial trucks, we can help you stay compliant.
Absolutely. We help new carriers with everything from DOT/MC setup to IFTA, IRP, permits, and first filings, so you can start running legally as fast as possible.
You choose one or more services, add them to your cart, fill out the required forms, and complete the payment. Your request is sent to our team, who follows up by email if we need anything else. We then review everything, prepare the filings, and update you as each step is completed.
No. You don’t need to know all the rules. If you’re not sure what you need, just email us and our team will review your situation and let you know which services are the best fit for your business.
Billing FAQs
We accept all major credit and debit cards. All payments are processed securely through Stripe, so you may see Stripe listed on your bank statement or receipt.
Some services may be refundable if processing hasn’t started yet. Please contact our support team to review your case. If a refund is approved, it will be issued through Stripe back to your original payment method.

Yes, we offer volume discounts for fleets and long-term service packages. Our sales team can prepare a custom offer for you, and any discounts will be clearly shown on your Stripe invoice at checkout.
Trucking Compliance Basics FAQs
Yes. We can help you form an LLC or corporation (INC) in the state you choose.
- A USDOT number identifies your company for safety and compliance.
- An MC number (operating authority) is required if you haul regulated commodities or passengers for hire across state lines.
Yes. We prepare and submit your USDOT and MC applications, help you choose the correct operation type and cargo, and guide you through the next steps.
Normally, FMCSA issues MC numbers within 24 hours. However, it takes around 20 to 25 days for an MC Number to get activated. This is because all the new MC Numbers issued by FMCSA have to go through the protest period before they get activated.
You need an IFTA license if your company operates qualified motor vehicles (over 26,000 lbs GVW or with three or more axles) that travel in more than one state or province. Even if you only cross state lines occasionally, you are generally required to register for IFTA.
You need IRP (apportioned plates) if you operate commercial vehicles over 26,000 lbs GVW or with 3 or more axles that travel in more than one state.
- IRP covers vehicle registration and apportioned license plates across states and provinces.
- IFTA covers fuel tax reporting for your qualified vehicles.
- Most interstate carriers need both IRP and IFTA.
- These are state-specific permit and tax programs for trucks above certain weight limits. If your vehicles meet the weight threshold and operate in these states, you must register for the corresponding account:
- Requirements for Each Account
- New York Highway Use Tax (NY HUT & OSCAR): required for vehicles over 18,000 lbs
- New Mexico Weight-Distance Tax (NM WDT): required for vehicles over 26,000 lbs
- Kentucky Usage Tax (KYU): required for vehicles over 59,999 lbs
- Oregon Weight-Mile Tax (OR WMT): required for vehicles over 26,000 lbs
- Connecticut Highway Use Tax (CT HUT): required for vehicles over 26,000 lbs
- GateComply can help you set up, manage, and keep these accounts compliant as your fleet and routes change.
IFTA reports are filed quarterly.
Late filings can lead to penalties, interest, late fees, and possible suspension of your IFTA license. GateComply sends automated reminders and can help you get back into compliance if you’re behind.
- If your trucks operate in California, you may need to comply with CARB (California Air Resources Board) emissions rules and register your vehicles.
- CARB & CTC Certificates (California Requirements):
- Required for most commercial vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR that enter or operate in California, to meet state emissions standards.
Yes. GateComply can manage your registrations, permits, renewals, and quarterly reports in one place, so you can focus on running your business while we handle compliance.
